(Arvada, CO) - A teenager riding a skateboard was injured and later died following an accident occurring in the 6500 block of Oak Street on Oct. 5 just after 12:30 p.m.
While it's early in the investigation, it's believed the teen was riding his long skateboard in the southbound bike lane on Oak Street. At some point, he held onto the passenger side front door or window of a Jeep Wrangler being driven by a 34-year-old man. When the teen let go of the jeep, he was struck by the vehicle and then hit the pavement.
The teen was taken to Saint Anthony's Hospital Central where he later died from his injuries.
The teen killed in the accident is identified as
Austin Ayers
(DOB: 09/15/91).
Police are continuing to investigate. The name of the driver of the jeep is being withheld until the completion of the investigation.
