Arvada Police Department

HUSBAND SLAMS WIFE'S HEAD AGAINST WALL
On March 9 at 11:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6600 block of Marshall Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. The reporting party told police that her husband had been drinking and suddenly grew angry over the family's finances. As she plugged in her cell phone, her husband "grabbed her by the face, putting his thumbs right below her eyes" and slammed her head against the bedroom wall. The woman, able to get away, ran down the stairs where the husband then tackled the wife on the couch and pinned her down by gripping her wrists. The woman told police he then called her a "(expletive)." The pair's child, who told police he heard a "ruckus," ran down the stairs and told his father to get up and stop. The man was arrested for domestic violence harassment and obstruction of phone service.

MAN ATTEMPTS TO STEAL DONATION BOX
On March 9 at 9:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to the McDonald's located at 8001 Wadsworth Blvd. in reference to an attempted theft. The reporting party, the McDonald's drive-through attendant, told police that a "white, pudgy" male between the ages of 16 and 17, driving a Toyota van, had ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, pulled up to the window and began attempting to remove the Ronald McDonald donation box from the wood and metal framing outside of the restaurant. The employee asked the driver what he was doing. The driver responded by saying he was fixing it and that someone had tried prying it from the wall. As McDonald's employees began to write down the driver's license plate number, he fled the drive-through "without collecting his chicken sandwich or paying for it." The case remains open at the time of the report.

DRUNK MAN DRIVES 60 MPH IN 40 MPH ZONE
On March 10 at 2:19 a.m., an Arvada police officer witnessed a vehicle traveling 60 miles per hour near West 78th Drive and Quaker Street, which is a posted 40 mile per hour zone. The officer activated his emergency lights and attempted to pull the car over. The driver ignored the officer, so police began to pursue the car. The driver, a 26-year-old man, stopped outside his residence and attempted to walk away from the scene. Police ordered him back in the car. When officers approached the vehicle, they saw the driver had "bloodshot, watery eyes, slow, slurred speech and the distinct odor of alcohol on his person." When police asked if the man had been drinking, the man said, "No." After administering voluntary roadside maneuvers, police determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI and transported to the Arvada Police Department.
