Perlmutter hosts art show for area students


On May 16, 2008, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, in conjunction with University of Colorado Hospital will host a reception in lobby of the Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion and present awards to the 7th Congressional District high school students participating in the 7th Congressional Arts Competition, "An Artistic Discovery."

The artwork is on display at the Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion through May 19, 2008. Students from the following high schools in the 7th Congressional District contributed art work: Wheat Ridge, Alameda, Pomona, Golden, Ralston Valley, Bear Creek, Lakewood, Warren Tech, Aurora Central and Hinkley high schools.

Meininger Art Supply will present students with awards for first, second, third place and two honorable mentions. Additionally, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design will present scholarship offers to students of their choosing.

The winning work will be sent to Washington, D.C. to represent the 7th Congressional District and will be displayed for one year with other winners from throughout the nation in an exhibit in the U.S. Capitol.

"This is a fantastic way to showcase the talent of our students here in the 7th Congressional District," said Perlmutter. "The caliber of art this year is outstanding, and I am so proud of each and every one of these students. I hope they all continue to pursue art throughout their lives and to continue sharing their talents with all of us."
