Arvada Denies Arvadan's Their Right to Petition
Contributed by: E. Cox on 5/16/2008

In a recent ruling by the Arvada City Clerk, Arvadan's will not be allowed to decide the direction they want their City Council to go. A notice to petition the City's involvment in the Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority (a group of Cities that will try to raise funds to build the tollway connecting Broomfield and Golden) was filed May 9th. The City said that citizen's do not have the right to petition, for or against, this ordinance. The reasoning, as the City states, is because it is part of prior contractual obligations as part of an ordinance passed in the Candelas project.

It doesn't matter whether you are for or against the tollway -- Arvadan's rights to petition ANYTHING the City does should be upheld. For a little more info on this decision visit the following links...

We, as Arvadan's should be able to decide what we want our City Council to pursue or not to pursue. Voice your opinion!
