The deadline to register to vote in the 2008 Primary Election is Monday, July 14, 2008, one week from today. Election Day is Tuesday, August 12, 2008.
Primary Election voters in Jefferson County will have a choice of casting a ballot by mail during early voting, August 4 - 8, or on Election Day at their precinct polling place. Voters registering after July 14 will be registered to vote, but will not be eligible to vote in the August Primary Election. If they miss the July 14 deadline, they will still be eligible to vote in the November 4 Presidential Election if they are registered prior to October 6, 2008.
Voters can register to vote, or update their voter registration information by visiting any of the County Clerk's branch locations or by downloading a voter registration form at
www.votejeffco.com.
"We are encouraging everybody who wants to vote in this election to make sure their registration information is up to date so they are eligible for both the Primary in August as well as the General in November," said Josh Liss, Jefferson County Deputy of Elections.
