Church craft fair rings in holiday season
Contributed by: Simon Moya-Smith/YourHub staff on 12/1/2008

"So you don't grow old quickly this is what you do," said Sue Hawkins, of Arvada, one of numerous craft vendors at the 29th annual holiday craft fair held at First United Church of Arvada, 7195 Simms St., Arvada, on Nov. 28.

"It's just great meeting all these people," she said. "This is my first year doing this with the church and the creativity in this country is phenomenal."

The craft fair, which was free to the public and traditionally held on the weekend following Thanksgiving, offered patrons holiday jewelry, wreaths, wooden tree ornaments, tea towels, a raffle drawing, honey and food, according to Jeri Lous Maus, co-chair organizer for the craft fair.

"We asked our vendors that 80 percent of what they sell be hand-made," she said. "This is the largest fundraiser for the congregation."
