Governor names Arvada mayor to IT Council
Contributed by: Steve Caulk on 10/15/2007

Arvada Mayor Ken Fellman has been appointed by Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter to serve on Ritter's new Innovation Council, designed in part to increase deployment of broadband technology throughout the state.
Fellman is the only government representative from the Denver area.

"I'm honored to be selected for such an important position, and I look forward to helping in the efforts to make broadband service more affordable, more available and with better customer service for everyone," Fellman said.

The Council will also work toward consolidation and reform of the state's fractured information technology system. An example of Colorado's IT inefficiency is evident in its collection of data centers, numbering 38, where two or three could do the job.

"We have a very talented group of participants on the Innovation Council, representing a healthy cross-section of IT disciplines," said Gov. Ritter. "Ken Fellman has served as general counsel to the Greater Metro Telecommunications Consortium, and he is an expert in the field of telecommunications law on the municipal level. His contributions will be appreciated."

Gov. Ritter also expects the Innovation Council to create an aggressive strategy for economic development within the state's technology sector.
Fellman is a partner in the Denver-based law firm of Kissinger & Fellman.
