Stepping Up: Ending Domestic Violence in Denver
Special Program Targets Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention
DENVER, CO - June 10, 2009 -Stepping Up: Ending Domestic Violence in Denver is a special presentation from Denver 8 TV focusing on solutions to this deplorable problem in our society. Because of its importance, Denver 8 TV, the City of Denver's municipal television channel, is sharing the special with the entire metro area through the monthly Metro Voices program, hosted by Wendy Brockman.
This half hour special program features the poignant, first-hand account of a domestic violence survivor who shares her personal experiences. It also focuses on the City of Denver's policy to address domestic violence in the workplace, how victims can get help, and how a person can help a suspected victim. And, while an individual can get out of an abusive situation and become a survivor, the problem of domestic violence will never be solved until both sides of the issue are addressed. Denver 8 TV talks to AMEND (Abusive Men Exploring New Directions) to find out why some people become abusers and how they, too, can get help. The special also features interviews with representatives from the City of Denver and SafeHouse Denver who discuss how we can all help prevent domestic violence.
Stepping Up: Ending Domestic Violence plays throughout the metro area every Thursday at 8:00 PM in June on Comcast Cable Channel 8. This special presentation is made available through the Greater Metro Telecommunications Consortium'sprogram, Metro Voices.
