The city of Arvada is seeking Arvada residents to participate in a committee tasked with prioritizing needed capital improvements and suggesting funding mechanisms.
The city has identifiedmore than$150 million worth of important capital improvement projects, including constructing new streets and improving street maintenance, park development, new facilities, and replacing water and sewer lines. In the meantime, existing revenues are barely keeping pace with the expenses of providing ongoing services.
The Arvada City Council would like the input of residents on these issues and thus is establishing a Citizens' Capital Project Planning Committee. Committee members will learn about capital needs, competing priorities and funding limitations, with the ultimate goal of establishing a prioritization list for city council consideration.
Committee appointees will be asked to meet in the evening approximately twice a month for at least nine months. Meetings will consist of staff presentations and discussion among committee members and staff. Approximately 20 members will be appointed; you must be a resident of the city to apply.
Interested parties must complete an application form. Forms are available online at
www.arvada.org or by contacting the city clerk's office at 720-898-7550 or e-mail at chrisk@arvada.org.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 24. Selected applicants will be interviewed by city council in early September; the first meeting of the Citizens' Capital Project Planning Committee will be held in late September.
