Griffin wins county treasurer race handily
Contributed by: YourHub.com on 11/7/2006

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Current Jefferson County clerk and recorder Faye Griffin will be the county's next treasurer as she easily defeated Democrat Bob Moser.

With over 95 percent of precincts reporting, Griffin had a 57 to 42 margin over Moser or just over 17,000 votes.

"I really feel pretty relieved," Griffin said. "Campaigning is so difficult, especially when you're working another job. I often spent evenings and weekends working to get the vote out."

Griffin, a native of Golden, has more than 20 years of experience working in Jefferson County. She was elected clerk and recorder in 1998 and re-elected in 2002.

She said she will immediately sit down with employees of the treasurer's office to get to know them better and ask for suggestions. She also wants to upgrade the computer system.

Griffin also said she plans to look into some of the investments the county makes as she becomes more familiar with her new role as treasurer. It appears current Wheat Ridge city clerk Pam Anderson will take over for Griffin as Jefferson County clerk and recorder though that race is still close.
