Contributed by: Committee To Re-Elect John Malito on 3/8/2007

John Malito has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Arvada City Council, representing District 4.

The Arvada election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6.

Malito, 52, has served on the Arvada City Council since November, 2003. He also serves as council representative for Historic Olde Town Arvada, the Gold Line Advisory Committee, the Arvada Media Task Force, the Jefferson County Criminal Justice, and the North Jeffco Coordinating Committee. He serves as council alternate for the Arvada Arts Council, Jefferson Country Transportation Advisory Group, and Colorado Municipal League Policy Committee.

Malito is a member of the National League Of Cities-Community And Economic Development Policy Committee. He is also a member of the board for Ride Provide, Inc., and former board member for the Arvada Community Food Bank and Hope House of Colorado.

Malito, and his wife Cindee, have been married for 22 years and have two children, Zachary, 21 and Sarah, 18. He and his family have lived in the district he serves for over 20 years.

A member and employee of Faith Bible Chapel, Malito currently serves as seniors (PrimeTime) ministry director at the church.

Malito supports revitalization efforts in Olde Town, Arvada Ridge, the Triangle Area, and other areas of the city. He agrees with efforts to encourage economic growth throughout Arvada and supports efforts to encourage Arvadans to "shop and buy" in Arvada.

"As your Arvada Councilmember, I promise to continue to be accessible, visible, approachable and dependable", Malito said. "I welcome your ideas, opinions or concerns about local government."

I first met John Malito outside the Safeway store at 64th and Ward. He was encouraging people to support FasTracks. I asked, "What can I do to help?" John knew the answer. He and I probably are poles apart in many areas, but he is a hard-working member of the City Council and I support his re-election without reservation.
