My name:
Mark McGoff
, candidate for Arvada City Council, District 2
My age: 67
My family: I have been married to
Linda
for 37 years. Our son
Owen
lives in Colorado Springs. He and his wife have one daughter, age 3.
Education: B.A. in English and Philosophy from St. Mary's College in Minnesota, M.Ed. in Adult Education from Northeastern University in Massachusetts.
What I do: I am retired from a career as a warden and administrator in the Colorado Department of Corrections. I currently work part time as a certified personal fitness trainer with North Jeffco Park and Recreation District.
My favorite place in town to hang out: Majestic View Park or any of the trails in the city.
What I like most about living here: I like the friendly people and the small-town feel of Arvada. I enjoy all the programs at the Arvada Center.
My interests and hobbies: Physical fitness (weight lifting, hiking, cycling), classical music, Colorado history.
My favorite thing to cook: Energy bars with all organic and natural ingredients.
People who inspire me: Colorado Governor
Ralph Carr
, who came to the defense of the interned Japanese people during World War II.
How I have contributed to the community: I have been an active member and have been in leadership positions of the Arvada Center Arts Council, Arvada Historical Society, and the Arvada Child Advocacy Center. I have also served on the Arvada City Charter Commission and the Arvada Centennial Commission.
The biggest issues facing Arvada now are: planning for three new transit stations, developing the retail business sector and funding for maintenance/replacement of infrastructure (e.g. water and sewer systems, streets, bridges, lighting, etc.).
Why I am running: I am running because I believe my qualifications and experience will allow me to make a significant contribution to the community where I live.

OK, but are your brave enough to tackle the question no political candidate in Colorado will touch? Politicking is one thing, but a man's beliefs reveal more about his qualities to lead. If you want the question, and you will answer it, email me and I will be happy to post your response.
