Cool cars, 5K, fun at Father's Day Car Show

On Father's Day, June 15, the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, is the place to be for family fun from 8 am to 3 pm.

The day starts with a 5K run and 1 mile run/walk; runners, walkers, dads, kids and families can all enjoy a morning on the scenic trail near the Apex Center. For details on the run, visit www.apexprd.org.

From 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., the Arvada-Jefferson Kiwanis will be on hand to serve a pancake breakfast to benefit the Arvada Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth. Enjoy pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee for only $5 for adults, $3 for children. (under 6 free).

Starting at 9 a.m., the North Jeffco Foundation Father's Day Car/Cycle Show takes center stage. Check out hundreds of classic autos and motorcycles from the 50s and lots of other decades! Vehicles will be on display from 9 am to 3 pm. The event is free to spectators. For information on entering a car, call 303-424-2739. Event proceeds benefit community recreation through the North Jeffco Foundation. The Car Show is sponsored by Hokes BBQ, Stihl, the Colorado Lottery and the Arvada Auto Center.

Nostalgic music by deejay Van Jeffries adds to the fun and festive atmosphere, along with inflatable games, magician Ed Aragoni, food and soft drinks.
