The Denver /Aurora Breed Specific Dog Ban has caused thousands of innocent dogs to be put to death and has caused many families of these once beloved pets immense grief and sorrow.
Many dogs like Forrest are incarcerated and killed for the simple fact that they may look like a Pitbull . Forrest was found in the City of Denver walking down a street, but he lived in the next county over.He was never considered vicious, even by the Director of the Denver Municipal Shelter, Doug Kelley, who said, "he was a sweetie". Forrest was released , but not back to his owner, Chris McGahey. Forrest is being released to a rescue group.
Many people fought for Forrest's release and to be spared the death penalty, a rally was held, some of the people attending that rally came from as far away as California and Idaho. Petitions were signed with over 2000 signatures. All this was for one innocent dog. There are thousands out here in Denver and Aurora that are awaiting death penalties because of this Breed Specific Ban, Forrest was one of the lucky ones, many will not be. Breed Specific Dog Bans don't work, this is witch hunt! What breed will be the target once all the Pits are gone? My guess is the Golden Retriever.
The following link (video), though a day late and after Forrest's release is still very valid.
Cross promoting and posting is encouraged and considered "righteous".
It serves as a thumb print in time, a reminder of all the dogs still in custody, and a tool to educate the unknowing.
Grab it, use it, abuse it, share it, put it under your pillow at night and hope for the pit fairy to deliver all good dogs to the nearest bed or dog park or water bowl or couch.
