As the 4th of July approaches, Table Mountain Animal Shelter worries about the very many terrified pets that will end up in the shelter.
A shelter that is overcrowded at most times is anticipating the worst in a few days -- too many pets and not enough space. When so many pets come in at one time, it is overwhelming. Sadly when there is not enough room, those pets that have been there for a while that have not found new families are euthenized to make room for the new.
These July 4th dogs and cats will end up there because someone forget to put them in the house, where they would be safe from the fireworks.
Many of these pets get so frightened they simply run away to hide somewhere safe from all the chaos. To them, it is like a war has broke out suddenly in their otherwise safe and quiet backyard. So, remember, bring your furry friends in on the 4th, turn on the TV or the radio, close the blinds. This will help ease their stress and anxiety.
Please spread the word, keep all your pets inside on the 4th of July, you could be saving a life.
