Red Tango review was off the mark

Yesterday as I read the review on the Red Tango , I found myself questioning the reason why it was published. If you were short on articles, you certainly could have found a better one to publish. To have visited a restaurant (or any business) once and feel that they should have a review like that is not good journalism. At least the reviewer in the Rocky Mountain News today visited the place 3 times before saying it was not good.

I do need to preface the rest of my comments with the fact that Red Tango is one of my husband's and my favorite restaurants and we eat there 2-3 times a month.
I wonder how often your reviewer eats out if he thinks $24.95 is too much for a steak. I had a steak at another restaurant last month that was over $30 and if I wanted salad/soup it was another $7-10.

As to the decor of the restaurant, I don't see how that affected his dinner. Yes, the chairs in different rooms are not the same, but that is true in many restaurants. It is not decorated with a lot of fancy items on the walls, but the casualness of the place is what makes it. Yes, the building is like all the others around there, but that is true of many other restaurants. It is not a chain business, and has its own charm.

If his party all arrived atdifferent times, why did he not wait until all were there before ordering? Many restaurants refuse to seat incomplete parties until all are there. Is that what he would have preferred??

As to why he would return to a restaurant that he did not like the first time, I don't understand that. There are several restaurants that we have eaten at that we do not revisit. If the food isn't to your liking, why would you go again?

As to the portion size, I find it appalling that so much food gets wasted every day because restaurants serve such large portions. It is refreshing to find one that doesn't want to see food wasted.

I would hope that you would reconsider before publishing reviews like this when there is not enough justification for it. Everyone including businesses have an "off day," and to write something like this based on one visit is poor journalism.

It seems selfish to go to someone else's town and complain about a restaurant. Why the Hub published it is beyond me. Perhaps Mr Dyer should stay closer to home and "critique" eateries where he resides...Red Tango isn't a chain, isn't the everyday, it's for those who dare to be different...from kindergarten on I remember the saying if you can't say something nice...Please do us a favor in Wheat Ridge, Stan, and stick closer, way closer to home...

In response to Stan's comment below, he states that he rated it a "B" and that's pretty good... Almost like like he's doing the restaurant a favor by giving it a B. I rarely listen to what a reviewer has to say about a restaurant since they seem to concentrate on the bad rather then praise the good. I have introduced several friends and co-workers to Red Tango, who in turn have brought their friends and clients to the restaurant. I have yet to hear antyhing bad about the way that they were served or about the decor. The art work may be a bit different, maybe even odd, but I think that's makes the Red Tango a unique restaurant. Oh well Stan, to each their own right?

I have visited Red Tango on numerous occasions and have found the food and service great. As Mayor and as a citizen, I am proud to have Red Tango in Wheat Ridge. They have been a wonderful asset to 38th Ave. in Wheat Ridge.

Apparently, you did not read the entire article. I rated it a "B". That's pretty good for a restaurant that does not stock its "featured" wines, is very ordinary, and makes you track your server down to get your check. Also, that was not my first visit to the restaurant, I dine out more often than you do, and I visit a wider variety of establishments. All of our party was there within five minutes of the first being seated. I am pleased Red Tango has such loyal customers, (the food is actually satisfactory), but you might want to try a few other places to see what you are missing.
