Top 10 'achievements' of the do-nothing Congress
Contributed by: Dan Mahoney on 9/22/2006

The House has failed to do anything about pressing domestic policy and budgetary issues. Instead of addressing middle class issues, the House has concerned itself with giving more money to the super-rich. Congress has wasted time debating legislation that has no chance of passing.

1. Passed 18 separate bills giving new names to U.S. post offices.

2. Passed a bill to "redesignate the Ellis Island Library on the third floor of the Ellis IslandImmigrationMuseum...as the Bob Hope Memorial Library."

3. Passed two separate versions of the "Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005," instructing the U.S. Treasury to print special $1 commemorative coins of past U.S. presidents.

4. Passed legislation to redesign the penny.

5. Passed resolution honoring National Marina Day.

6. Scheduled to pass resolution that "recognizes the importance of honoring our nation's senior citizens" and "urges all Americans to honor the service of our seniors by saying thank you to them, by showing them respect, and by wishing them well."

7. Passed resolution supporting National Life Insurance Awareness month.

8. Passed resolution supporting the "goals and ideals" of School Bus Safety Week.

9. Passed resolution recommending the establishment of a National Young Sports Week.

10. Scheduled to pass the Wool Products Labeling Act of 1939, "to authorize specified variations for the average fiber diameter of specified wool products, including cashmere."
