In Saturday's column, Mike Littwin showed just how truly left wing that lad is. He calle
d a left wing gathering against the War on Terrorism that drew approximately 1,000 protestors a balance point.
Lets look at the numbers. The Denver Metro Area had approximately 2.4 million people in the 2000 Census.
Using his data, only 4/100s of a percent, or one person in 2,400 attended to rally. Yet from Littwin's view, the one person attending is in balance with the other 2,400 who did not attend. Folks, anybody that sees some sort of equality is not only left of center, but so far left that he cannot even recognize the center.
Mike also seems to have invalid estimates regarding how long it takes to build a country. By his standards, we should have been out of Germany in early 1947, and Japan by the end of 1947. At this early stage, Wolfhound Units still patrolled Germany punishing many Germans who were working with the Allies to build a new government. Significant bumps such as the Berlin Airlift were still in the future.
Our experience in these wars shows that it takes between 5 and 7 years to help rebuild a country -- about equal to the Army's latest timeline estimate.
By the way, I have some "skin" on the table. My son is a Combat Medic who has been alerted to possible deployment in Iraq. My son in law is in training as a Forward Combat Observer and faces certain deployment to Iraq. Further, I, my father, my grandfather, and my great-grandfather served time in the military. Given all of this, I still support the war.
Keep on trying Mike, with a little more seasoning and practice you too will be able to look at numbers and make legitimate conclusions.
