NO SMACK, LANDS TRIP FOR TWO TO GILLETTE
Contributed by: CHARLIE JOHNSON on 12/20/2006

Our story starts on January 24, 2006, that's the day our Broncos played the New England Patriots in the playoffs at Invesco Fireld. My son Joe and I were in the north parking lot early that day for the game.

I saw a Patriot logo on the side of a SUV in the handicapped parking lot and two guys were standing along side of it. I introduced myself to them, my name is Charlie Johnson and asked them if they were from Boston. The little guy said he was Art Leveris and his son was Art Junior and they were from Maine and Boston and came for the game too.

I asked them if they needed any help finding their gate and seats or needed any help to their gate or use of a golf cart. They told me "No, they had scouted the stadium out the day before". We talked for thirty minutes about the upcoming game and I gave him my business card and told them if they needed any help while they were in Denver to give me a call. We wished each other good luck and went our separate ways.

Denver beats the Patriots by a score of 27 to 13 that day, we are to play the Steelers for the AFC Championshop next. Artie called me the next day and hoped we would kick the Steelers butts. We talked for a little while and he gave me his cell number in case we were ever in Maine.

Our Broncos lost to the Steelers in the AFC Chamionship game. Artie called me after the game and felt really sorry for me and the Broncos. We talked about the upcoming Super Bowl game and made our predications.

Artie called me the day before the big game and made me a great offer, because of our act of kindness at Invesco, he said "If the Broncos ever played the Pat's in New England my son and I had two tickets for the game". I told Artie"Thank you, but he didn't have to do that", but he insisted.

To the sceptic, no one would really do that and nobody really believed me that I would be going to Boston to see the Broncos play. But Artie and I talked to each other often and then the 2006 NFL schedule came out. Artie called me early in the morning and told me that the two teams played on September 24th and reminded me of his offer.

I told my family and firends that I was going to New England, and still nobody believed me. In fact people laughed at me for being so trusting. Well folks a picture tells it all, my son Joe and I are in GilletteStadium in Foxborough watching our Bronscos beat the Patriots.

Artie and I have developed a real friendship, we talk two or three times a week and I am looking forward to going back next sesaon for a game. Sports fans instead of talking a lot of smack, just talk sports and you too might be going on a trip of a life time.We did !!!
