A penalty kick by Sam Glynn won the USA Rugby Division III Regional Rugby Championship match today (October 18) in Eagan, Minnesota, by a 3-0 score over Viterbo University from La Crosse Wisconsin.
Blue Ox Rugby Club is a team of the University of St. Thomas students in St. Paul Minnesota. Sam helped reestablish an extinct club that was banned from the campus. The brothers of Blue Ox Rugby had reached the title match in just two years.
Sam was a 2-time MVP for Tigers Rugby Football Club in 2006 & 2007, and a former Tigers Rugby captain at the fly half position. Sam was also a member of the 2A Colorado State Football Championship team as a kicker and wide receiver for Holy Family High School in 2005. Tigers Rugby Football Club offers Arvada and Broomfield high school boys the opportunity to learn and play rugby in the spring.
