Pomona Competes at Dave Sanders
Contributed by: larry harkreader on 9/29/2008

Clement Park is the scene for the Dave Sanders Invitational hosted by Columbine High School. The meet brings a large pool of talent to Littleton every year. This year, 27 varsity division 1 & 2 teams competed. The meet is a bit atypical by allowing ten runners to compete in both the varsity and junior varsity races then scoring the top 7.

Pomona's team came in 6 th out of 15 division 1 teams. The Panthers were led by their ace, Adam Sinda who managed a top 10 performance. Ian Harkreader cracked the top 20. Joining Adam & Ian on the varsity squad were: Kory Sanchez, Kevin Olschner, Nate Want, Michael Rainey, Evan Krech, Matt Dominguez, Tom Williams, and Dylan Hayes. The JV squad was led by Kade Schaeffer and Fernando Trujillo. Pomona has suffered some injuries this year and could not field a complete JV team.

The Panther Girls made an exciting finish to the race as three runners; Ashley Gallegos, Hannah Kenyon, and Emily Barlow; matched each other stride for stride over the final yards of the race. Rumor has it that the bus ride home was very quiet.

Pomona will compete at two meets this week. Tuesday, September 30 th, is the Northglenn Freshman/Sophomore Invitational. On Saturday, October 4th, the entire squad will go to Englewood for the Windjammer Invitational.
