Panther girls rock in Northglenn
Contributed by: larry harkreader on 10/1/2008

In a sport that takes time and miles to develop, younger athletes can get run over at some of the large meets. To give freshman and sophomore distance runners a chance to see how they are competing against peers, Northglenn hosts an earlier version of the Pat Amato Classic just for underclassmen. Pomona High School took their young team to Northglenn on Tuesday, September 30 th to see how they compare.

The Lady Panthers did great. They finished second to Loveland - missing first place by a scant 4 points. The course is flat but sun drenched with miles of rebound stealing sod. Emily Barlow led the Panthers with a 10 th place finish. Pomona's next four scorers were: Kara Farnes, Ashley Gallegos, Kellie Sheldon, and Heather Croke.

Pomona's guys managed a 5 th place finish. Their first five runners tied with Arvada and Ralston Valley. The tie breaker in cross country is to look at the sixth runner from each of the teams and, if needed, the seventh runner. Pomona's Kade Shaffer broke the tie.

Pomona would like to thank Northglenn for all their work for putting on two great races in the same week. The Panthers travel to Englewood this Saturday, October 4 th, for the Windjammer Invitational.
