The Pomona Panthers participated in their first track meet of the season on Saturday, March 8. Elizabeth High School hosted 18 teams in the Cardinal Classic. The Panthers would like to thank their host for all the hard work involved in putting on the meet. The spring weather appeared to add extra work as evidenced by the piles of snow shoveled off the track.
The Panthers were led by their throwing team of
Cole Carveth,
Hayden Hunsucker,
Ryan Duman and
Emily Hunsucker, who swept the discus competition. Hayden, Cole and Ryan also placed 1, 2and 3 in the shot put event. Another field highlight came in the high jump with
Dustin Ebner placing first.
Dustin also got the the runners off to a good start with a great finish in the 400 meter and 800 relay. The male distance runners showed fine form in the 1600 (
Adam Sinda) and 3200 (
Adamand
Ian Harkreader).
Hannah Kenyon helped the lady panthers with a top ten in the 800 meter.
Tierra Jefferson and
Karlee Lepore also started the season off with great performances.
The Panthers are hoping for good weather as they host the Panther Co-Ed Relays on Friday, March 14, at Jeffco Stadium.
