Contributed by: Paul O'Brian on 6/29/2008

Tigers Rugby Football Club elected a new Board of Directors at their Annual General Meeting on June 21, 2008. Joshua Carvalho was elected to the position of Match Secretary, and will serve for one year on the Board of Directors of the not-for-profit Colorado corporation. Carvalho, a Pomona HS student, was also voted Tigers Rugby's 2008 "Best Rookie Forward" by his fellow club members.

In other elections, Jeff Gossman stepped up to serve as Treasurer. Paul O'Brian (President), Dylan Lewis (Vice President) and Steve Sadler (Recording Secretary) were all re-elected.

The following 2008 Tigers Rugby Awards were also presented:

Most Valuable Player: Quincy Anderson

Best Rookie Back: Charles Martinez

Sponsor's Awards: Albert Whitemore (presented by Lucero & Associates, PC); Markus Harvey III (presented by Toxic-Sports, Inc.); Justin Sadler (presented by Toxic-Sports, Inc.); Lewis Rosenberg (Rugby Spirit Award presented by Coffman and Companies); Mike Sadowski (Rugby Spirit Award presented by Coffman and Companies), Josef Mack (presented by Jorgenson, Motycka & Lewis, PC); Travis McKee (presented by Accelerate Physcal Therapy, PC); Rob Nees (presented by Tigers Rugby Parents), Patrick O'Connor (presented by Tigers Rugby Parents).

Alumni Evens Taggle Series, 47-42

A beautifully rehabilitated grass pitch at Broadlands Park was the site of the second annual Tigers Rugby Alumni Match. The freshly cut and lined pitch was layed out by the O'Brians and O'Connors for the 10:00 am kick-off. The Annual General Meeting followed with awards and elections.

A 22-22 half time score held up after Sammy Glynn missed a conversion as time ran out. The second half was an epic battle with Andy Maul, Marcus and Alejandro Luceroand Josh Carvalho leading the 2008 Tiger RFC U-19 side against their coaches and alumni. Pat Quinlan scored his first try of the 21st century to put the veterans up for good. The seasoned left wing took a pass on the weak side, and ran it to the center of the posts uncontested. A late charge by the 2008 Tigers just about put the match into overtime, but for an unlucky knocked-on pass.
