Panthers ready to Prowl
Contributed by: larry harkreader on 8/1/2008

Hanging out, getting into trouble, making bad choices, sedentary lifestyles, disrespect, lack of direction ... just a partial list of "ills" cast upon our young people. Cross Country, Track, Football, Softball, Basketball, Swimming, Golf, Soccer, Wrestling, Tennis, Spirit Team, Baseball,.....just a sample of opportunities for male and female high school athletes. Is sport the cure for society's problems? No; but the boys and girls who participate in sports at Pomona High School are held to a higher standard. Coaches watch their players' grades, their attitudes, teach them to set goals, teach team work, inspire them to do their best, to make the choices that will help themselves & their team. High school sports have a valuable role to play in maturing our youth into tomorrow's leaders.

Pomona is kicking off their major sport fundraiser Saturday, August 16, 2008. The Panther Prowl is a 5k run/walk that athletes ask friends, family, and neighbors to sponsor them with a pledge. The run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the walkers start 5 minutes later. There will be drawings after the run at approximately 10:00. We would like to invite the public to join us by running, walking, pledging, or cheering us on as we run through the streets around Pomona. Athletic director, Mike Santarelli, can be reached at 303.982.0682 with any questions.
