Panthers stalk at Centaurus
Contributed by: larry harkreader on 9/10/2008

Pomona took their cross country team to Waneka Lake Park last Saturday, Sept. 6th, to participate in a meet hosted by Centaurus High School. This meet attracts many schools from the northern front range. The weather, path, runners, and fans were all beautiful. What a day to run! Thanks to Centaurus for putting on such a great meet.

The Pomona boys team is rebuilding following the loss of last years senior class. Losing six of their top ten runners, the boys are still trying to figure out where they stand in the competition. If this meet is an indication, they will make Pomona proud. The Panther's varsity team took 4th place and were led by Adam Sinda and Ian Harkreader. Adam finished 5th. Ian finished 9th.

The Pomona girls team is much improved from last year. Missing their top runner from a year ago, the girls still managed 10th place. Ashlee Gallegos led the Panthers. Kelly Marks and Heather Croke raced each other to the finish in an exciting preview of how competitive this team is becoming.

Pomona has received a strong influx of Freshman talent from both girls and boys. It will be a fun season to watch these new comers to running find their strides. Pomona travels to Heritage High School on Friday, September 12th to run in the Liberty Bell Classic. The Liberty Bell is a very large meet with a strong field. Last year there were 82 teams from five states.
