Colorado Edge U18 Girl’s Soccer accept scholarship

The Colorado Edge Girls U18 Black team announced the signing of three more players to college letters for the 2009-2010 season. The players are Corey LaMoureaux (Stanley Lake H.S.) a goalkeeper, and Danielle Madonia (Arvada H.S.) a central midfielder who both have signed to play at Barton College in Kansas. The third is Devin Barth (Faith H.S.), a defender who has signed to play at Aurora University in Illinois. The three girls join two other Colorado Edge Black team players (Aubrey Fondy and Lindsey Pfenninger) who signed earlier. A sixth player, who is entering her senior year in high school, will probably sign in a few weeks to play in the 2010 season.

Corey and Danielle chose Barton College due to its very successful soccer program and scholarship support it offers student-athletes. Bryan Sailer, the Barton coach came to Steamboat Springs to watch both Corey and Danielle play for the first time in the Steamboat Tournament. He had signed Corey, sight unseen based upon her Edge coaches' recommendations back in May. Danielle signed to join Coach Sailer's team during the Steamboat tournament. Both join Amber Hull, another Colorado Edge player who joined the Barton squad last year. Coach Sailer said with the addition of these players he believes he can win the division championship and take his team further than he has been able to do before.

Devin Barth was recruited by Aurora University after the Aurora University Coach Kanute Drugan saw her playing with the Colorado Edge U18 Black team last year in a showcase tournament. Coach Drugan commented "Devin adds another strong presence to our roster. She is a physical, aggressive defender with good communication skills, good decision-making ability, and has the passion and intensity we look for in a recruit."

The Colorado Edge U18 Girls Black Team is coached by Allan Reid, Mark Johnson and Jeff Combes.
