EDGE U14 Girls Team Takes Top Honors in New Mexico
Contributed by: Edge Soccer Club on 3/5/2008

By Sarah Musson

The New Mexico Rush Spring Cup, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, gave the U14 Girls Select team a chance to show teams from three different states what they were made of. Coached by Micah Loring, the team went 4-0 beating teams from New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado. Coach Loring credited the team's success to absolute teamwork. "The girls simply worked together as a team. They had a great understanding of what was expected of them in their positions on the field which helped them successfully compete against some tough teams." Player Sade Akindele and Goal Keeper Chelsea Woodward also helped lead the team to success. Sade scored six of the team's ten goals and Chelsea made many key saves throughout the tournament, especially in the final two games. Edge Soccer Club wishes to congratulate all the girls for a job well done.
