Despite the wet overcast day, well over a hundred people enjoyed the Arvada Gardeners’ 10th Annual Open House. The event was held at their community garden at 57th and Garrison this past Saturday. There were lots of garden related door prizes, tours of the culturally diverse gardens, ears and ears of their famous “plot to pot” sweet corn-on-the-cob cooked while you wait, unique gifts for all the kids, hot, cold and fresh dishes made from garden plot produce, free vegetables off the Put-n-Take table and plenty of conversations related to this year’s gardening season. There were also several local dignitaries sighted wandering around the garden plots.
The Arvada Gardeners have operated the 130 plot community garden since 1968. They have recently taken this opportunity every year to invite the public in to see what community gardening is all about. If you would like to get involved next year, visit their website
