The Regulation of You

The Republicans brag a lot about smaller government and less regulation. Just today John Mcain said, "The McCain Palin administration will replace the outdated patchwork quilt of regulatory oversight and bring transparency and accountability to Wall Street, we will bring transparency and accountability and we will reform the regulatory bodies of government."

Truth is, Republicans aren't actually opposed to regulation. Well, they are opposed to it when it comes to businesses, but they are absolutely for the regulation of people. They love to regulate Americans. They live for it. What women can do with their bodies, who men and women can form unions with, science education taught to your children, books you read, you name it. If it personally affects your life, the Republicans want a hand in controlling it.

The Republicans talk so much about freedom, and they really want that freedom for the corporations, wealthy contributors and their powerful political friends, but they don't want you - the average person - to have a bit of freedom. You have to turn to the Democrats for that, for the freedom to choose, the freedom to live your life on your terms, the freedom our Founding Fathers fought for.

I'm a republlican against over-regulation, and agree that in some cases it's gone beyond our party position. I disagree with you about abortion, however, because the issue is actually about human life, not "her" body.
