You're probably getting used to those "Best of 2006" lists by now, even though 2006 isn't over yet. Best movies, best sports moments, best albums of 2006, the list goes on and on. It's our way of trying to predict what will stand out in the history of this year, isn't it?
Well, I'll spare you all that in this blog entry. We're going to take a look back, but not at the entire year. We'll just try to remember the best blogs that were posted on YourHub.com over the past week, Dec.22 through Dec. 28.
Hey, YourHub.com editor
Travis Henry had a baby! Well, his wife, Erin actually had the baby. But you know what I mean.
Erin Di Paolo, of Green Valley Ranch, recently saw
Rocky Balboa. She asks, "
Are there any men out there like Rocky?" Also, she
hates snow.
When everyone was shoveling out their driveways last Thursday,
Nick Bohnenkamp was driving from his home in Denver to Eldora to
go snowboarding. I know this because he wrote a blog about it, and because he called me to see if I wanted to go with him. I said, "No, I gotta work."
Our own
Kevin Villegas wrote about how his brother,
Andrew, got cheated out of a
proper graduation at CU because of the blizzard.
Charmaine got
new pants and a cold for Christmas!
Syrenia Brooks, of Denver,
wants to know why the misbehaving Miss USA gets to keep her crown when Miss USA 2002 was stripped of hers for, gasp, missing a photo shoot.
Ryan Hatch, of Thornton, explores the loss of self-respect he feels
every time he eats fast food.
Bill Boucher, of Brighton,
made like Odysseus and somehow got home from work during the worst part of the blizzard.
Jim Syring, of Denver, has a dog, a Siberian husky for the love of god,
that hates snow.
Sandy Clifton's closet is experiencing a renaissance with
all the weight she's lost after finding out she was lactose intolerant.
Karin Malchow, of Lone Tree, discusses the "
You'll shoot your eye out" theorem of giving guns to kids for Christmas. Also, she
hates snow.
Tabitha Dial checked out the
after-blizzard, post-holiday atmosphere in Castle Rock.
Blogger and ham radio operator
Glenn Pladsen, of Arvada, says the FCC isn't requiring radio operators to learn Morse Code anymore. Well, he's got a story about a time when it
saved a ship.
Ann Himel finished off her "Come hell or high water" series with "
Come hell or high water VIII: Undiscovered Country." If you're not familiar, you may want to start at the
beginning. Trust me, I've never been so enthralled by a mostly snowbound family dealing with a leaky sprinkler pipe.
Irma Sturgell, of Centennial, reviewed a book on Dec. 23. Fittingly, it was
The Children's Blizzard, by
David Laskin.
Julie Robinson, of Castle Rock, explained how she coped with the
grocery shortage that followed the blizzard.
Kevin Platts, of Parker,
wasn't impressed with the plowing job lots of retailers did on their parking lots following the blizzard.
