It was a happy 24th to me

In a column I wrote about two weeks ago, I mentioned the fact that my birthday was coming up on Oct. 23 and that I'm not a big celebrater. And I remember thinking to myself, "I kind of want to do something this year that I've not done since I was a little kid: have a party."

I mentioned this to my girlfriend on Oct. 11 and from there, she took the reigns. She told me a few days later that she had reserved a table at Purple Martini, 8000 E. Belleview Ave., Greenwood Village, for me and that I need to start inviting my friends.

I had one of those warm, tingly feelings come over me at that point because, like I said, I usually don't do much for my birthday. As far back as I can remember, someone in my family bakes me a cake, takes me out to dinner and I open my gifts. While that routine usually does me just fine, I wanted to do something in addition to all that; call me greedy, but oh well.

All last week, I had an incredible amount of anticipation because it looked as though I would have a large turnout at my party, and I did.

I'll probably never forget Oct. 26, 2007 because it meant a lot to me to have15 of myclosest friends around me, dancing, partying, etc., and given the fact that it was the first party of this type thatI remember having, it'll go down in the books for sure.

So, KK, Dwight, Bobbi, Tristan, Jermaine, Danielle, Marcus, Bocage, Bueno, Lena, Leila, Josh, Satoya, Devotte and Ryan, in case you were a tad intoxicated and didn't hear me the first time, thank you.

And yes, Kiristin, I drank enough for the both of us!
