My adventurous day in Douglas County

This morning I went to Douglas County to talk to three people from Castle Rock, Parker and Highlands Ranch about their experience with our last blizzard and how they've prepared for the snow were expected to get Dec. 28 and 29.

The Outlets at Castle Rock will probably have people, busy returning gifts, I thought.

And I thought wrong. The parking lots were deserted at 8:40 a.m. and I quickly steered my faithful jeep to a nearby gas station and had no difficulty talking to the many people fueling up. You can check out their faces and what they told me here.

I then headed north to Parker, where I tried to get my interviews at another gas station, the Circle K on Lincoln Avenue and Keystone. Folks were friendly and fun to talk to there, but the pumps weren't as generous. Click through my photos to learn more.

I drove down to O'Brien Park to check out the snow conditions. At first I thought that a foot path may have been created for park visitors, but as I walked closer to the playgrounds, I realized that no one had enjoyed the slides or the jungle gym for a while.

I've been a little unhappy that the snow has kept me off of my bicycle for a week, but it must be pretty rough for some of those kids out there who can't get to their playground.
