The media and the Bennish controversy

Do you think the whirlwind of media attention and criticism focused on Overland High School geography teacher Jay Bennish has gotten out of hand?

7News reported today the teacher's father -- who lives in Michigan -- has received a dozen or so death threats.

Death threats?

Obviously, any anti-establishment sentiment -- be it balanced or not -- will get the attention of those looking for a fight. (See the incredible amount of feedback by readers on any number of media outlets allowing user comments including YourHub.com.)

Has the dialogue gotten unproductive?

What do you think? Is this story getting out of hand? Have the important facets of the issue gotten buried under divisive jargon by partisan politicos?
