Help abused and neglected kids!
Contributed by: Advocates for Children on 8/19/2008

What:
New Volunteer Training for CASA volunteers!

Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteers (CASAs) are community members who ease the overburdened child welfare system by volunteering to advocate for children affected by abuse and neglect. CASAs get to know these children and speak up for them in court, providing the court parties with timely, pertinent information to help ensure that the child's best interests are served. Perhaps even more important, a child's CASA is often the single constant presence and source of comfort throughout the child's long and sometimes frightening journey through the child welfare system.

CASAs must be 21 years or older, and willing to commit 10 hours of their time each month for the duration of a case (12-18 months). Volunteers must attend 30 hours of training in order to be sworn in by the court to serve as a CASA. Please contact Advocates for Children by email (one_casa@adv4children.org) or phone us at (303) 695-1882 for more information and an application. Our next evening training runs from October 14 to October 25, 2008.

Volunteers serve the 18th Judicial District of Colorado--Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln Counties. We work hard to staff our volunteers in their own community!
