Website: www.loiscourt.com

My Favorite Place to Hang Out: The Cherry Creek Dog Park with my yellow Labrador Retriever, Miel

What I Like Most about Living Here: Our wonderful mountains for hiking, biking, camping, and generally enjoying how beautiful our state is.

My Interests and Hobbies: I am passionately interested in Public Policy and American Government (I teach American Government and Political Science). I enjoy reading, traveling, hiking, and being with family and friends. And I especially enjoy discussions about public policy with people who have diverse positions.

Favorite TV Show: The News Hour on PBS

Favorite Website: I don't have one

People Who Inspired Me (and How): I have always been inspired by the Founders because of their courage and dedication to creating our country. As a child I was inspired by JFK, Martin Luther King Jr., and many fine teachers. Current leaders who inspire me include Andrew Romanoff, Ken Gordon, Alice Madden and Diana DeGette because of their dedication to public service and our shared values. Ken Gordon has especially influenced me because of his concern about big money in politics.

How I Have Contributed to the Community: I have been involved in public policy in Colorado for 25 years. During that time I have been a public education activist, a neighborhood leader, a non-profit employee, a mayoral appointee, an aide in the legislature, a public issues consultant and a community college instructor.

What are the Biggest Issues Facing District 6 Now: I think they're the same as for the entire state - the environment, health care, education, our infrastructure, water, and transportation. These are all complex issues and there are numerous views and ideas about how to address each one of them. I look forward to many thoughtful conversations about these issues with constituents in HD 6 as the election continues and once I become their next state representative.
