Aurora Public Schools posted overall gains in CSAP results, with the largest district gain since all CSAP tests were realigned in 2002. APS posted a 2 percent gain overall. State overall gains were at 1.1 percent.
This year, 21 APS schools had an overall increase near or at 3 percent. The percentage is an APS goal set by the district and is acknowledged by the CDE as an "extremely compelling goal" and one that is difficult to attain.
Other highlights:
· APS has increased proficiency scores 3.1 percent over the past two years.
o The state gain is 1 percent during the same time period.
· Science proficiency scores at APS increased at all levels, with middle schools boasting the largest increase at 6 percent.
· For 2009, 20 of 27 tests in APS had an overall increase.
o In 2008, APS had 15 increases.
· APS gains outpaced the state in 2009 in all four academic areas: reading, math, writing and science.
· Proficient scores in math have increased 8.3 percent over the past five years at APS.
