Aurora Public Schools 3A/3B passed by voters

The Aurora Public Schools mill levy and bond issue was passed by voters.

For the mill-levy increase (ballot issue 3A), 25,148 voted for the measure while 22,833 voted against it.

For the bond issue (ballot issue 3B), 25,536 voted for it and 22,154 voted against it.

The Cherry Creek School District mill-levy increase and bond issue passed as well; click here to read about it.

The bond-issue money will be used to begin a five-year construction program for a new high school, new K-8 school, and a new child development center.

Some of the money will be used to remodel, renovate and upgrade infrastructure at many of the district's existing schools.

The bond issue, officials stressed, would not raise taxes.

Money from the mill-levy override will help provide full-day kindergarten in the district, as well as add programs designed to increase graduation rates and add new technology district-wide.

This will be the first mill-levy increase for APS since 1990 and was estimated to cost a taxpayer living in a $200,000 home about $10 more per month.
