May 24th was a fine day to paint a house in the great state of Colorado. Brothers Redevelopment Inc. joined with community service activist group Democrats Work to help an elderly gent scrape, paint and trim his house in Aurora. About 10 volunteers showed up on the beautiful summery spring day to help turn a gray and black house into a freshly-painted red and white one.
The resident and his northerly neighbors were appreciative of the organizations' efforts, supplying refreshments and witty liberal banter. All in all, it was a rewarding day of community service!
Democrats Work connects grassroots Democrats with service projects in their communities - cleaning up neighborhoods and parks, planting trees, working at food banks, honoring veterans, and supporting schools. Since it began in 2007, Democrats Work has mobilized over blue-shirted 700 volunteers at more than 30 service events in Colorado. In 2008, it launched the Ready, Set, CO! campaign to help address unmet needs and get Colorado communities ready for the Democratic Convention in August.
