Unyielding
Contributed by: Dennis Vallejo on 10/9/2006

The fates have tormented me; and taunted me
they have left me on the brink of insanity
denied all vestiges of happiness
a drop of joy that was granted to me was swept away in their wave of cruelty
The choice left to me was to fight
and fight I did, in vain
the garment that is my life
was orchestrated and woven on the loom of destiny
The war ragged on
not an inch was gained by my efforts
for every inch that was mine to take by right to take, two steps I was forced to retreat
My once beautiful golden armor
that was my pride and honor
has been left tarnished and in tatters
My sword of silver forged out of determination and will
is bent and splintered
The shield forged in hope and dreams
is cracked in half
The husk which I once proudly called my body
is bruised and battered beyond recognition
With my last ounce of strength I wield my weapons once more
What little of me there is left shall to the end defy your will
And everyone will know me as the fates knew me unyielding to the end
