How many rallies do you need?
Contributed by: Kristi Kaufmann on 5/1/2006

I was getting the kids ready for school this morning and was watching the news. It seems as though every other day there is some kind of rally for the immigrants.

Now I'm Hispanic/German and a little perturbed that the Mexicans feel as though they have different rights than all of the other immigrants that have come here.

Others have come here legally, paid their taxes, gotten jobs, etc., why can't the Mexicans fill out the proper paperwork to come here legally?

It's as though this reform act is rewarding those that have broke the law for the longest...."you've been here 10 years and gotten away with it so let's give you amnesty." Now really!!!

Why is it they are able to get state funding (Medicaid, food stamps) or any kind of government assistance for that matter? They don't pay taxes and they're not even here legally!

I think reform should have been done a long time ago. Be here and share your culture, but be here legally like the rest of us!

And how did your ancestors obey the laws of the land? Oh wait, they just made their own. History, if not learned, is always ready to repeat...

So then, Gabriel, what you're saying, in effect, is "It's really inconvenient to obey the law". I see. Nevermind, then.
