OHS Teen Advisory Group Discovers the Fine Art of "Cupping" Peaberry Coffee

With only two weeks notice, Peaberry's Founder and President Bill Tointon, along with Peaberry Marketing Manager Amanda Cummings graciously agreed to present a coffee "cupping" or coffee tasting program to our TAG members on December 13th. The program began with a short, informational video about the process of growing, roasting and cupping coffee. After the video, Tointon opened up the meeting for discussion and gave TAG members a chance to make comments and ask questions about the video.

After a brief discussion, Cummings and Tointon prepared the coffee beans for the cupping. Coffee cupping is the technique used to evaluate differences between coffee growing regions to get a better understanding of each coffee. TAG members were directed to sniff 12 different coffees including two competitors of Peaberry. Next, TAG members were asked to loudly slurp the coffee to spread the flavors to the back of the tongue.

Tointon concluded the meeting with an informal polling of the TAG members' favorite coffee flavors. Kenya, Sumatra and Costa Rica were the top three winners. Finally, each TAG member was treated to a complimentary Peaberry Coffee tumbler, which entitles him or her to discounts off future coffee drinks.
