The Gateway Athenians and Venus, along with the Rangeview Show Choir
represented Aurora Public Schools in the state of Nebraska's Old West
Choir Festival in Scottsbluff, Neb., this past weekend. There were
over 15 show choirs that participated in this festival and all three
of the Aurora Groups did an outstanding job.
We should especially be proud because Aurora brought home the most
awards. The Rangeview Show Choir directed by James Laguana received a Silver Medal in the 5A division and the Gateway Athenians and Venus directed by John Richardboth received Gold Medals in the 5A division which gave the Athenians and Venus the opportunity to advance and compete in the finals which included all the top winners of each division.
In the finals round, the Athenians won second place and Venus won third
place and
Rachael Kelly
, from Gateway, was selected as the Festivals
Most Outstanding Soloist. This is the second year that both groups,
Athenians and Venus, were selected as two of the top three choirs in
the festival. Below is a list of all the students that participated in
the festival.
