APS students and staff paved their own way to a healthy lifestyle. As part of the City of Aurora's America On the Move program, participants from Paris, Virginia Court, Crawford and Peoria elementary schools walked more than 20 million steps and earned a pedometer and a t-shirt.

At a March 6 assembly, participants earned awards for participation, and third-grade teacher Denise Schmersal's class was recognized for the most steps taken. Students in her class walked 5,453,959 steps!
