What do you like most about living here?: Aurora offers an ideal balance of quality of life, access to jobs and recreation. I have lived in my district over 30 years, teaching in the Cherry Creek Schools and raising two children, and have built lifelong friendships and have enjoyed making a difference through boards and community organizations.

Interests & hobbies: I enjoy traveling, and spending time outdoors and visiting with friends and family. But my work has also been immensely rewarding, and it has been a privilege to serve the people of Aurora for the past twelve years.

People who inspired you (and how): I admire the women who blazed the trail for today's leaders, and appreciate the opportunities they created for those of us who followed.

How you have contributed to the community: I have been active in a number of community organizations, from the Rotary Club to the Sister Cities program, and have served on a variety of boards, including D.A.R.E. Colorado, United Cerebral Palsy Association, Colorado Medicaid Consortium, Colorado Special Education Advisory Board, I-225 Policy Advisory Board,, Sungate Foundation Advisory Board, and Co-chair of the Early Childcare and Education Commission. I have advocated for families, schools and small businesses in the state legislature and will continue to volunteer my time and support the programs and policies that best serve our city. I enjoy holding town halls and forums to educate my constituents on a variety of issues and connect them with the experts and resources that can help them address their concerns.

What are the biggest issues facing your constituency now: I hear most often that my constituents are concerned about the economy, including the cost of health care, energy and higher education.
