14-year-old girl makes bears for children in need
Contributed by: Liz Christensen, YourHub.com on 7/19/2006

A 14-year-old girl hand-made over 100 bears and plans to deliver them to Aurora firestations, for distribution to young children at emergency scenes.

When Nicole Justice's mom a former EMT and dispatcher, told her about how often times children were alone and scared at fire and rescue scenes, she wanted to find a way to help them. At first she went to garage sales and solicited donations for her plight, then she realized that she could make her own bears.

With the help of her mother, Joyce Justice, she selected a pattern and went to work with non-toxic paints and stitched ribbons to prevent choking. Nicole calls her bears, "comfort bears" and has already distributed 40 bears to local fire stations.

Nicole will be presenting her Comfort Bears as a community service project for her 4-H club at the Arapahoe County State Fair on July 22 and 23.

What an amazing young lady. I work with young victims of violent crimes and I know how much something like this means to them! Blessings to her for all she is doing!
