Teacher's car stolen. A high school teacher reported her car stolen Oct. 23. She stated her 1994 Honda Accord was taken from the staff parking lot at Overland High School, 12400 E. Jewell Ave., sometime before 4 p.m.
Shoplifters nabbed. Two teenage girls were caught shoplifting from a crafts store Oct. 23. The girls attempted to steal jewelry and glue from Hobby Lobby, 441 N. Sable Blvd., at about 5 p.m. They were issued summonses and released.
Teacher's laptop damaged. A teacher at an alternative high school said his laptop computer was mysteriously broken Oct. 19. The incident occurred during an evacuation at The Estate, 4360 S. Pitkin St., Aurora. He said his laptop had a large crack on the screen when he came back after the evacuation, which was due to a gas leak in the building. There are no suspects in the case.
Car passenger caught with loaded gun. A man who attempted to run from police was arrested Oct. 25. The suspect took off running after he was pulled over at 11:20 p.m. on the 14000 block of East Colorado Drive. He was tracked down and handcuffed after a brief struggle. Police later found a loaded Colt 380 pistol under the passenger seat of the car he was riding in. He was then transported to jail.
Suspect returns to 40-ounce. A man was issued a summons for an open container violation after he was caught drinking a large bottle of beer Oct. 22. Officers first saw the man drinking the beer in an alley near the 9600 block of East Montview Boulevard, but he left the bottle on the ground after he saw police were watching him. Officers drove away, but parked nearby to see if he would come back for the 40-ounce of Miller Genuine Draft. He did.
Vacant house trashed. An empty home on the 17400 block of East Rice Circle was left in pretty bad shape by whoever lived there last. Police checked the house at about 2:25 a.m. in reference to a sliding glass door that was reportedly left open. According to the report, running water in the upstairs bathroom was leaking through the ceiling, several toilets had been destroyed and the fireplace was filled with burnt papers. Police also found a damaged box spring and a pick axe.
