Construction begins on Parker Road near Arapahoe

IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BEGINS ON PARKER ROAD NEAR ARAPAHOE ROAD

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun an improvement project on Parker Road near Arapahoe Road that will construct a masonry sound wall on the northwest side of Parker Road at Arapahoe Road and widened southbound Parker Road between Fair Street and the ramp to westbound Arapahoe Road to accommodate one additional lane.

"This is one phase of a larger project that will ultimately construct a grade-separated interchange that will carry Parker Road over Arapahoe Road," said CDOT Resident Engineer Abe Lavassani. "Due to the cost of constructing the new interchange, we are moving forward in phases and this is one of many phases that is needed to complete the new interchange."

During construction, motorists can expect various single lane closures on southbound Parker Road between Fair Street and Arapahoe Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Minor delays are expected and alternate routes are advised.

CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to "Slow for the Cone Zone."

New Design Construction Co. is the contractor for this $2 million project, which should be completed by mid-November 2008.
