Cub Scout Pack 753, along with their families, participated in a City of Aurora tree plantingon October 17 at Sand Creek Park. The boys, who ranged in age from first to fifth grade, loved getting their hands dirty while helping plant some of the 100 newtrees at the park that day.
The Scoutsare working toward various badges depending on their rank, including the World Conservation Award, Leave No Trace Award and rank badges. The tree planting helped fulfill several requirements of the badges and the boy's learned valuable lessons aboutteamwork, conservation, andcommunity.
Following the tree planting, the Scouts and their families enjoyed lunch and were surprised by the opportunity to get to meet both Mayor Hickenlooper from Denver and Mayor Tauer from Aurora. Themeeting provided the opportunity for families to discuss government and how different cities work together for the people.
Barb Hesseltine, a Scout mom and Award Chairperson for Pack 753 sums up the day best, "It was a wonderful experience."
