The Aurora Police Department Explorer Post 2024 is currently recruiting new members. Law Enforcement Exploring is a division of the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life Program. Post 2024 is sponsored and operated by the Aurora Police Department.
Exploring is a worksite based program for young men and women ages 15 to 21. Explorer Posts help youth gain insight into the field of law enforcement while giving them an opportunity to serve the community and the Police Department.
Aurora Police Explorers are uniformed volunteers who receive basic law enforcement training, ride-along with patrol officers, perform community service work, assist the department with traffic and crowd control at community events, compete against other Explorer Posts from around the country at Conferences, and participate in social events and outings such as paintball and camping.
Applicants to program must be between the ages of 14 and 19, have a good or nocriminal record, strong moral character and be a highly motivated individual.
On October 18, 2006 at 7:00PM there will be an informational open house at the Aurora Public Library Community Room (14949 East Alameda Parkway). This meeting will provide additional information about the program. It is open to the public. Interested applicants under 18 years of age should bring a legal guardian.
